Delia, as she was affectionately named by her discoverer Donato Coppola, is the oldest mother in history. Her remains were found in the cave of Santa Maria d’Agnano near Ostuni in 1991, and they date back 28,000 years. The woman’s body was discovered with an 8 month fetus in her womb.
This wine comes from one of the oldest vines in the south of Italy and it is linked to the first mother in history.
The gentle floral notes that characterize Delia a.C. best embody the tenderness of a mother’s touch, as she protects her precious child. Bombino Bianco is a grape that symbolizes the bond between the Apulian coast and its territory, just like the one that has linked Delia and her son for millennia.
Dalia is obtained from 100% Bombino Bianco grapes grown on clayey limestone soil.
Aged in the cellar on fine lees for 2 to 3 months and in bottle for 1 month.
The grape harvest takes place in mid-September.
Pale straw yellow in color, it releases delicate aromas of white and yellow flowers, and sweet citrus scents on the nose. Surprisingly fresh and easy to drink, it also features a harmonious savoriness on the palate.
It pairs well with typical local dishes like seafood spaghetti, fried fish, burrata and potato flan.
